Council appoints John Sisk for Kettering market regeneration scheme
Published: 12-Mar-2010
John Sisk & Son, part of the Irish Sisk Group of construction companies, has been appointed by Kettering Borough Council as the contractor for the regeneration project of Kettering, the historic market place of Northamptonshire, England.
The GBP2.1 million ($3.1 million approx) regeneration project has already won full planning permission. Slated for early 2011 completion, the scheme will reintroduce a line of buildings that previously occupied the southern edge of the town square. This is intended to provide a mix of apartments, restaurants and basement parking.
Kettering Borough Council has identified four strategic urban quarters: a new Retail/Leisure Quarter centered around the Newlands/Dalkeith Place; a Western Quarter alongside the Slade Brook comprising new housing and leisure development including a possible hotel and a linear park alongside the slade; a Station Quarter with high quality offices on both sides of the railway, new car parking and a new square in front of the station; and a Heritage Quarter, building on the historic character of the area, with new development and possible new one stop facility for the council, police and fire service.
English Heritage has forwarded support to the regeneration scheme, which is vital due to the proximity of a Grade 1 listed church.
