Costain, Skanska secure first Crossrail tunneling contract near London

UK-based Costain, in joint venture with Skanska has received a GBP15 million ($22 million) contract from Crossrail, as part of the enabling works framework.
Under this contract the joint venture will construct Royal Oak Portal, the first tunnel-related construction contract for the Crossrail project.
The Royal Oak Portal is near to Paddington main line station and will act as the transition ramp for Crossrail trains, when entering and exiting the central London tunnels. Work will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion in March 2011.

Skanska is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden and listed on the OMX Nordic Exchange Stockholm. It established its first international operations already in 1897.
