Contractor chosen for India highway contract

India-based G R Infraprojects has secured an INR14.4bn ($216M) contract for the widening of a highway segment in Punjab, India.

The contract, awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will include the widening of an 81km section of the Phagwara-Rupnagar highway to four lanes.

The project will include one major bridge, 22 minor bridges, one vehicular underpass and one pedestrian underpass.

Construction work on the project is set to be complete within 30 months from the date of commencement.

The project is part of the phase IV of the National Highways Development Projects (NHDP).
