Copper Mountain has recently announced that construction on the company’s mines project in Colorado, US, is progressing as per schedule.
Construction of the concentrator building is now complete and as of now, the final pieces of the exterior cladding are being installed. Besides, interior work on the concentrator building is also proceeding as per schedule, with the completion of rebar installation for the foundations of ball mill #1 and #2, concrete has been poured for the concentrate stock and filtrate tanks, and work has started on the assay lab.
Besides, specialised overhead cranes have been used to construct the truck shop. The five bay truck shop building is attached to the existing admin/warehouse building.
Upon arrival of the Copper Mountain’s main loading unit, a Komatsu PC 8000 (53 yard capacity), the preproduction mining activities would start. The second half of the mining fleet, including a second PC8000, is scheduled to be on site by April 2011. Preproduction mining will start in the Pit 3 area with a push-back on the western wall.
