Construction at $3.5 million rubber plant begins in Laos

The Vietnam-Laos Rubber Joint Stock Company has initiated the construction work at a rubber latex processing plant at Champasak province in Laos.
The total cost of the project, which will be built on an area of 13 hectares in Pakse district, is VND68 billion ($3.5 million). The new plant will have the capacity of churning out 15,000 tons per year and is expected to be put into operation in seven months’ time.
The Vietnam-Laos Rubber JS Company was established in late 2004. The company has planted rubber trees on 10,000 ha in Laos two years ahead of schedule. This year, the company plans to harvest latex at a 1,200 ha farm with an estimated volume of 10 tons per ha. Vietnam-Laos Rubber JS Company secured Vietnam’s Labour Order, third class, and Laos’s Labour Order, first class.
