Alpine wins $42 million contract rebuild Lauter Valley Bridge in Germany

3 February 2012

German construction firm Alpine Bau Deutschland AG in partnership with Plauen Stahl Technologie GmbH have secured a €32 million contract for demolition and reconstruction of the Lauter Valley Bridge (Lautertalbrücke) in Eching municipality, Bavaria, Germany.

The bridge is located between the Kaiserslautern-West junction and the Kaiserslautern motorway intersection. During the course of widening the A6 autobahn to six lanes between the Kaiserslautern-West junction and the Kaiserslautern motorway intersection, the present Lauter Valley Bridge will be completely dismantled and replaced with a new bridge. The existing bridge will be completely deconstructed down to the foundation structures, which will be left in the ground. Two separate structural sections will be built, one for each carriageway. These two 5-span composite steel sections bridge the Lauterbach valley with a length of 275m. At its highest point, the bridge passes approximately 25m over the valley floor.
